What do the different levels of surgeons mean?

Treatment packages are mainly leveled based on the ranking of surgeons (according to the number of annual surgeries, years of experience, educational and experimental records, the rate of successful surgeries and the percentage of patients’ satisfaction) and the hospital/clinic where the surgery is performed.

As an example, level 1 surgeons are Iranian brand doctors who are famous inside and outside the country and are mainly observed by international patients on social networks. It should be noted that all the doctors and surgeons that cooperate with Nora Health Tour are board certified and work in prominent hospitals that are licensed to accept international patients and comply with the standards of Nora Health Tour medical team.

In some cases where your departure is on the weekend, the time to visit the Nora Health Tour office for the farewell ceremony may change.

People instinctively seek beauty and becoming more beautiful. Therefore with the advancement of medicine, it has become possible to change the face, which is the most important part of the beauty and the showcase of communication with the outside world for each person, as he/she wishes. Rhinoplasty , often referred to as Nose Job, is one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the world that is performed with the aim of improving the appearance of the nose, making the nose more attractive and possible treatment of problems such as correcting respiratory problems, trauma, nasal polyps, and nasal deviation.

During this process, the plastic surgeon or ENT specialist will make the necessary changes to the cartilage and bone of the nose to correct the shape of the nose and eliminate respiratory problems such as a crooked nose, fleshy nose, and drooping or flat nose.

Finally patients who are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their nose can visualize a more desirable appearance and regain new self-confidence by improving the balance of facial features. Even the most subtle changes in the shape and form of the nose can greatly affect a person’s appearance.

According to health.harvard, one of the most common medical reasons for rhinoplasty or nose job is nasal breathing problems. Nasal obstruction interferes with exercise, sleep, snoring, and sleep apnea, or other activities. If medication (such as nasal spray or sleep apnea treatment) fails, rhinoplasty may be the next step. If nose job surgery be performed properly by an experienced and skilled cosmetic surgeon, both appearance and function of the nose will be improved.

Benefits of Nose Job Announced by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons:

  • Improves nasal breathing
  • Achieve a well-shaped and fit nose
  • Show the beauty of other parts of the face
  • Improve mood and positive energy
  • Improving social relationships and depression

Both women and men have this surgery to treat the following problems:

  • Correction of the shape of the nose
  • Drooping tip of nose
  • Nasal curvature and deviation
  • Correction of the width of the tip of the nose
  • Elimination of a lot of meat and excess nose
  • Nasal hump (in general terms eagle nose)

Men’s Rhinoplasty

Today, unlike in the past, men also care about their masculine beauty and attractiveness. For this reason, Nose JOb is more common in men than in the past. But the most important feature of men’s rhinoplasty is to keep the shape of the nose in line with the masculine face of men. According to studies on the anatomy of the male body, men’s noses are about ten percent larger than women’s noses.

According to recently published statistics, about 20% of rhinoplasty is performed on men. It is important to observe the shape of the nose in accordance with the male face and anatomy in men rhinoplasty. The angle of rotation of the tip of the nose is different in men and women, and in men the angle should not be such that the nasal cavities are visible.

As there is a difference between the sexes in the appearance of men and women, the type of cosmetic surgery for men is different for women. What rhinosurgeons consider during surgery is a conical face shape for men and a heart shape for women. Another difference between the noses of men and women is the size, width and height of the nose, which must be considered during rhinoplasty.

Different Types of Nose candidate for Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the types of noses that exist in humans are different. But in general they can be divided into the same three categories mentioned; because the nose is divided into specialized and wide ranges in terms of anatomy and type of surgery.

  • Fleshy nose: One of the most common nasal models in the world is the fleshy nose. This type of nose usually has very thick skin and the nasal cartilage is too weak to support the weight of this volume of tissue. This causes the result of the surgery to return to its original state after a while with an inexperienced surgery and failure to strengthen the cartilage tissue of the tip of the nose. A fleshy nose usually has a complicated nose job operation, and for its surgery, it is necessary to make an appointment with a specialist and experienced doctor so that you do not suffer from complications caused by medical errors.
  • Humpy nose: You may be able to see a hunchbacked nose model by looking around. About 9% of the world’s population has a crooked nose. This nose model is usually the result of a deep blow to the nose in childhood or adulthood. Roughness is seen in the nasal bone and is usually sometimes deviated. People with nasal congestion also have respiratory problems. Therefore, their surgery is performed cosmetically and therapeutically.
  • Bone nose: One of the best types of nose for rhinoplasty surgery is a bony nose. In this model of nose, the structure of the nose is usually such that the skin on it is very thin and without tissue. The cartilage in the bony nose is very desirable and there is no need for cartilage transplantation or the use of artificial cartilage. In many cases, the bony nose has a slight deviation that can be easily removed during surgery.

Different types of Nose surgery:

Rhinoplasty or Nose Job: In rhinoplasty, the most important goal that is pursued is to eliminate the defects in the nose and to shape the nose more beautifully. For this reason, this surgery, as its name implies, falls into the category of cosmetic surgeries. In rhinoplasty, an arch is formed on the nose, the tip of the nose is reduced and the sagging of the nose is eliminated.

Septoplasty: There is a blade between the nasal tubes inside nose and it is named septum. In some people, this blade has a deviation that causes problems. For example, deviation of the nasal septum increases runny nose, snoring at night, and impaired normal nasal function. For this reason, people seek septoplasty to improve the condition of their nose. The difference between rhinoplasty and septoplasty surgery is that septoplasty falls into the category of medical surgeries.

Reconstructive nasal surgery: Reconstructive rhinoplasty or secondary nose job corrects nasal problems caused by primary surgery and is a common procedure because there are many people who do rhinoplasty but do not choose an experienced surgeon just because of the lower price. So their nose faces many functional and structural problems and even breathing becomes a problem for them. It is recommended that they wait a year and return for reconstructive nose surgery after the nose has taken its final shape.

Different techniques of Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job

Different people have different types of noses. Since the type of nose and its characteristics is one of the most important criteria in the planning process for nose job, it is considered by plastic surgeon or ENT specialist. There are two basic approaches to surgical rhinoplasty:

Rhinoplasty/Nose Job with closed technique: Closed cosmetic surgery is generally the preferred method; because all surgical incisions are made inside the nose and the wounds are all internal; although the incisions are hidden and inside the nose which causes less swelling and scarring, the surgeon can still access large areas of the nose to address a wide range of cosmetic and structural issues. Close nose job technique is generally considered safe and it is necessary to be performed by a trained, board certified plastic surgeon or ENT specialist. The procedure takes 1 to 2 hours and it requires a week of healing. Rhinoplasty with closed technique is permanent procedures that can correct dorsal humps and narrow the nose tip or bridge of the nose. Unlike a more traditional open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty is typically used for reshaping the tip of the nose, shortening the nose, or getting rid of a bump or dorsal hump.

Rhinoplasty/Nose Job with open technique: Open nasal surgery allows the doctor more access to the cartilage and bones of the nose, but small scars may remain on the nose. In this procedure, by making an incision across the columella and in the cartilage area between the two noses, the surgeon can lift the skin from the tip of the nose that provides him/her with direct visualization of the internal structure of the nose and then shapes the cartilage very precisely. This technique improves the accuracy of the patient’s results. Many doctors believe that this small scar, which will continue to fade over time, is worth the tradeoff for improved precision. It also minimizes potential distortion of the nasal cartilage. Rhinoplasty is usually performed with open or crooked noses. This style of surgery is suitable for all types of changes. Open nose surgery takes longer than closed nose.

Pre- examinations necessary for Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job Surgery

Before planning a nose job, be sure to talk to your surgeon to make sure it is right for you. This examination session includes the following:

CT Scan: A CT scan of the nose from the inside is usually taken by the patient before the nose operation and presented to the surgeon to be considered during surgery. A CT scan manifests nasal polyps, their number and location, detects infection, the extent of their spread in the sinuses and finally it diagnoses the nasal deviation.

Photography: A number of photos are taken from different angles of the person’s face.

Health history: The first question a surgeon asks a person is the patient’s purpose for the surgery and his or her motivations. The doctor will also review patient’s medical record to check nasal obstruction, surgical history, and the type of medication the patient is taking. If the person has a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia, he is not a good candidate for Nose Job surgery.

Physical examination: The plastic surgeon or ENT specialist performs a physical examination that includes laboratory tests such as a blood test. The surgeon examines the skin of the area and carefully examines the inside and outside of the nose. The thickness of the nasal skin and the strength of the nasal cartilage affect the final result of the operation. Physical examination is a very important case to determine the effect of rhinoplasty on a person’s breathing. Nasal polyps are also diagnosed in this test.

Procedure of Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job Surgery

Usually, in operating room with the presence of an anesthesiologist; the necessary steps for general anesthesia are performed. Be sure to discuss your medication history and allergies with your doctor to choose the right medication for you. The Nose Job Surgery can result in blood in the throat, which could be potentially dangerous if a patient is not unconscious.

Finally, by intravenous injection of anesthesia, this step is performed and the surgeon begins surgery. Once you are numb, your surgeon will make incisions inside your nostrils. He/ she will separate your skin from your cartilage, and then begins the process of reshaping the cartilage of the nose, nasal bone, nasal skin tissue, and fins, and if there is a problem such as a polyp, it is treated and then the incision is sutured. A rhinoplasty procedure will typically take 1 to 4 hours depends on its complexity.

After finishing the surgery and the stitches, a plastic surgeon or ENT specialist places a special plaster or nasal splint, recently made with 3D printing technology, on the nose and bandages it. This split is very effective in controlling swelling and bruising. After a week, the splint or plaster is removed.

Different Nose Models in Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job Surgery

Natural nose model

As the name implies, the appearance of a natural nose is very close to the structure and shape of a person’s natural nose. In this type of nose, the tip of the nose is not pulled up and the bridge of the nose is very flat. In general, there will be limited changes in the process of rhinoplasty and the priority is to improve the shape of the nose so that it reaches other parts of the face and improves the fit of the face. Also, the functional and structural problems of the nose are better treated in this type of surgery, and the surgeon faces far fewer limitations.

Fancy nose model

In fancy noses, the range of changes that occur in the nasal area of people is very wide. The tip of the nose is formed at an angle of 100 to 105 degrees from the upper lip. On the other hand, because the tip of the nose is pulled up, the arch and curvature of the nasal bridge is very severe. For this reason, a fantasy nose is also called a doll nose. In general, the size of fancy noses is very small. This type of nose is the most suitable option for those who have a small face and their facial bones are very delicate. As a result, a fancy nose cannot be recommended for everyone.

Semi-fancy nose model

In the semi-fantasy nose model, a set of fantasy and natural nose features are combined to form a semi-fantasy nose. The bridge of the nose is not as smooth as a normal nose, but it is not pulled upwards with the intensity of a fancy nose. Although the size of the semi-fancy nose is not as small as the fancy noses, it does not have the normal size of the nose. This surgical model has its own fans and does not have the side effects of fancy nose surgery while the nose has the characteristics of an operated nose.

Rhinoplasty or Nose Job is forbidden for:

Pre-Operative Care of Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job Surgery

  • For a week to ten days, the use of anticoagulants and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is prohibited. Pills such as heparin, warfarin, aspirin and ibuprofen cause problems in the surgical procedure, increase bleeding and increase the recovery period after rhinoplasty. Some herbal remedies and teas can also dilute the blood.
  • Wear open front clothing such as buttoned or zippered clothing on day of surgery for returning home; because the areas around the nose are very sensitive after rhinoplasty and the least amount of pressure should not be applied to this area.
  • Take a bath the day before surgery because it is forbidden to take a bath for a few days after rhinoplasty and it can cause damage to the nose and surgical areas.
  • You should abstain from eating and drinking for 8 to 12 hours before surgery.
  • You should not drink alcohol for a week before the nose job.
  • Avoid smoking and smoking for a few weeks.

Post-Operative Care of Rhinoplasty/ Nose Job

The importance of how to care for rhinoplasty and its quality has a direct effect on the outcome of the surgery

  1. Using a suitable shirt with a button to take care of not putting pressure on the nose after surgery.
  2. Using cold compresses prescribed by a doctor (usually you should use cold compresses in the first 2 days). Be careful not to put pressure on the nasal plaster.
  3. Using a warm compress prescribed by a doctor (usually used in the second 2 days after the surgery). Be careful not to put pressure on the nasal plaster.
  4. Take care of the lack of moisture and wetting of the nose or splint.
  5. To reduce bruising and swelling of the face, be sure to keep your head above your body when resting and sleeping. With the help of a few pillows under the head, blood will flow easily.
  6. Reduce the consumption of salt and fatty foods to prevent swelling.
  7. Be sure to keep your head up while sitting.
  8. Use soft foods that do not require chewing.
  9. Be sure to take the medication prescribed by your doctor regularly (especially antibiotics).
  10. Use natural pineapple, pineapple juice or pineapple tablets to speed recovery.
  11. Brush very carefully and gently and do not apply any pressure.
  12. Do not take a shower for 3 days after the operation and do not wash the face or plaster until the surgeon opens it (except in a way that does not create any moisture in this area).
  13. Beware of colds so that coughing and sneezing do not affect the outcome of the surgery
  14. Under no circumstances fin for up to a month (at least) and do not put any pressure on the nose
  15. If you are forced to leave the house, be sure to use sunscreen SPF30 and above
  16. Alcohol and cigarettes are prohibited for at least one to two months (otherwise the risk of necrosis, increased infection and lack of rapid recovery is reduced).
  17. Doing heavy sports for up to 3 months is forbidden.
  18. Any blow and pressure to the nose up to 6 months to the first year after surgery is effective as a result of surgery.
  19. When you get home, eat soft and watery foods like soup and porridge.
  20. The sterile gauze that your surgeon puts under your nostrils may become bloody for up to 48 hours after surgery, which you can easily replace. The nurse will teach you how to change this sterile gauze.
  21. Avoid laughing out loud, opening your mouth too much and talking too much.
  22. Be sure to lie on your back and avoid lying on your side.
  23. Avoid watering the face and wetting the plaster of the nose. You can use a piece of wipe to clean your face.
  24. Sticking to the nose in the first 2 weeks is very important. Learn how to use properly from your surgeon and nurse.
  25. The use of glasses is prohibited for at least 2 months after rhinoplasty.

Diet after rhinoplasty

  • Do not eat or fast for 2 to 3 hours after leaving the hospital.
  • If you do not have nausea and vomiting, you can drink water with a spoon in the next 2 hours.
  • Consume only liquids for 24 hours.
  • Eat a soft diet for two weeks after rhinoplasty and avoid foods that need to be chewed (such as apples, kebabs, and pot bottoms).
  • Try to eat high-calorie foods because your body needs calories after Nose Job.
  • You may not have an appetite for a week after surgery due to stress and a closed nose, or due to fear of nausea. But you must eat because your body needs calories. Try to eat less processed foods. Natural foods are the best option.
  • Try to use fresh and natural juices because they are suitable for relieving swelling and repairing the nose. Synthetic and packaged juices do not have much effect.
  • Try adding some fiber to your diet. The fibers return the excretion mechanism to normal.
  • Do not eat spicy foods for two weeks after surgery.

How is nasal lavage after surgery

One of the most important things to do after rhinoplasty is to rinse your nose with the right solution. There are several solutions for nasal lavage, but doctors usually recommend nasal lavage with a syringe, which is both very easy and better than other nasal lavage methods. Nasal lavage usually begins one week after surgery. In the first week of surgery, rinsing is done using a dropper or nasal spray.

Inject Sodium chloride nasal wash solution into the nose using a 10 cc syringe, thus rinsing the nose. Doctors usually recommend rinsing the nose with a solution for approximately 3 to 4 months. Rinsing in the first few months prevents the nose from clogging.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty, commonly referred to as Nose Job, is a surgical procedure designed to change the shape and appearance of the nose or improve its function after injury, trauma, or birth defects.

Do we achieve the best shape of the nose with rhinoplasty?

There is no such thing as a perfect nose. Because beauty is infinite and to understand beauty, tastes are involved. Millions of people have millions of different tastes, so you can say that you have a chance to get your favorite nose by having a standard surgery by a specialist doctor. However, you should be aware that you can only achieve the desired nose if you have well described your expectations and interests to your doctor.

Does the surgeon meet all the expectations of the rhinoplasty candidate?

During the consultation, the surgeon patiently listens to your expectations of rhinoplasty. After this stage, according to your expectations and the existing facts that are in your face and nose, the analysis of nasal surgery will begin. Your doctor will be able to assess your expectations as a candidate for surgery. After this step, the rationality and realism of these expectations will be checked by the doctor and the final result will be shared with you.

Is rhinoplasty performed in a clinic?

Plastic surgeons and ENT specialists usually perform Nose Job at the clinic, surgery center and hospital. It is up to the surgeon to determine the possibility of surgery for each person in the clinic. Usually, when a person has a history of a specific disease or needs special devices to perform rhinoplasty, the surgery is performed in the operating room of the hospital.

How long after surgery can you start exercising?

Athletes should stay away from sports activities for a while after rhinoplasty. The length of time you stay away from exercise depends on the type of exercise and its activities. Light exercise can be resumed 2 months after Nose Job surgery. However, in sports that require running or more physical activity, they can start exercising 3 to 4 months after rhinoplasty. It is better to have at least 6 months passed from rhinoplasty to start wrestling.

Is sunbathing harmful after rhinoplasty?

Yes, sunbathing and solarium are prohibited for up to 2 months after rhinoplasty and you should not be exposed to extreme heat.

Is it possible to travel after rhinoplasty?

Plastic surgeons and ENT specialists generally recommend that you refrain from traveling for a week after surgery. People coming to Iran from foreign countries should be in Tehran for at least a week after rhinoplasty. Travel after one week is unrestricted.

How to massage the nose after surgery?

One of the most important questions that people ask is what is a fleshy nose massage like after surgery? Or does massage help to correct crooked nose? The answer is that nasal massage after rhinoplasty is done only by a surgeon. In fact, massage is done when your doctor feels that parts of the nose need pressure to form better. Manipulation of the nose by the patient may increase swelling and inflammation. One of the benefits of nasal massage after surgery is better reduction of swelling and better formation.

As you grow older, parts of your face, including your nose, become more prone to enlargement, sagging, or thickening of the skin. Some of these changes, including thickening of the nasal skin, can make surgery difficult. There is a possibility that the sutures will remain on the nose and the wounds will heal later in old age. The older the person is for surgery, the harder it is to predict the outcome of the surgery and the beauty of the nose will not be so dramatic.

Can rhinoplasty be performed despite anemia?

One of the tests that should be done before nose surgery is anemia test. In this test, if a person’s hemoglobin level is found to be less than 10, he or she should be treated for anemia first and then have surgery. This anemia can be treated by seeing a specialist and prescribing appropriate pills (usually B12 and iron supplements) or blood transfusions.

What is the best age for rhinoplasty?

According to plastic surgeons and ENT specialists, the best age is when the facial features are fully developed. Growth occurs earlier in women than in men. For this reason, it can be said that the appropriate age for rhinoplasty for women is after 16 years and the appropriate age for rhinoplasty for men is after 17 years.

Is rhinoplasty forbidden for people with sinusitis?

No. This operation is performed on the nasal bone, nasal skin and cartilage and no changes are made on the sinuses. For this reason, sinusitis cannot be a barrier to rhinoplasty. In addition, sinusitis is sometimes caused by a deviated nose, which can be helped by a diagnosis by an ENT specialist and deviated nose surgery.

Is it possible to act simultaneously with deviation and beauty?

Yes. If the plastic surgeons or ENT specialists determines that the person is also experiencing a polyp or deviation of the nose, during the surgery, he will first fix the problem and then perform a nose job.

Is rhinoplasty possible during Corona?

According to the Ministry of Health, due to the reduction of the corona slope, nasal surgery is unobstructed in compliance with all health protocols. According to these protocols, people over 60 and under 10 who have a weaker immune system, as well as people with underlying diseases, cannot have rhinoplasty. Also people who have been in contact with people with coronary heart disease.

Does rhinoplasty have any side effects for men?

Rhinoplasty is generally an uncomplicated surgery; but there is always a short period of swelling and bruising after Nose Job , which is temporary and resolves in a very short time. But other complications of rhinoplasty include asymmetry, respiratory problems, and excessive shrinkage. This type of complication occurs due to the wrong choice of surgeon and non-specialists. Therefore, for rhinoplasty, have the necessary and sufficient to choose a surgeon.

What causes a deviated septum?

This problem is most often inherited and occurs during puberty. These people do not complain much until adolescence, but then they notice respiratory problems. Another cause of this complication is a direct blow to the nose. Some of these traumas occur in childhood and parents may not pay attention to them and later cause problems. The soloution of this problem is only surgery and there is no other solution for it like medicine. Correcting the deviation of the nasal septum is not a difficult task for an experienced nasal surgeon, and if done carefully and skillfully, its side effects are very small and, contrary to popular belief, there is no turning back. Sometimes there are other problems such as sinusitis, polyps or enlargement of the nasal turbine (nasal tentacles) that a good nasal deviation surgeon should diagnose and try to eliminate them at the same time as septoplasty, or the same surgery to correct the nasal septal deviation.

What are the characteristics of an ideal nose?

In many cases, we see the effects of rhinoplasty on celebrities and actors. These people are usually very attractive and it is a big mistake to compare their noses with ours. But many people tend to have a nose similar to the nose of these people. Abnormal appearance after rhinoplasty is not often something that everyone likes. In some cases, Nose Job surgery is performed so naturally that not everyone can recognize it. Surgery noses are never like a normal nose, but many functional problems with the nose can be treated with surgery.
